Casa Aurea Inn Rio de Janeiro is set on a quiet street in charming Santa Teresa, the handsome two-story house has been converted into a simple familial guesthouse that remains one of the neighborhood's better-kept secrets. Casa Aurea Inn is within a short walking distance to the Bonde (tram) as well as the area's best restaurants and bars.
Pousada Casa Aurea Inn offers rooms with shared bathrooms or private rooms with an en suite bathroom. The rooms on the first floor at Casa Aurea Inn feature wooden floors, high ceilings, and have a light and airy feel. There's no air-con, and you'll have shared bathrooms and showers. Basement rooms have have air-conditioning and private bathrooms.
The best part of Casa Aurea Inn, however, is the large private garden behind the house. Here you'll find an open-air kitchen available for guest use, lush vegetation and relaxing nooks for curling up with a book or dozing in a hammock. The large house has an outdoor reading lounge, sitting room, and barbecue area, and is decorated with lovely artwork by some of the well-known artists from Santa Teresa. From time to time, tiny monkeys make their appearance in the trees (hint: they like bananas).

The Artisitic Neighborhood of Santa Tereza is easy to reach: you go up from Largo do Carioca with the historic streetcar, called "Bonde" after it's inventor. The streetcar makes his way over the Arcos da Lapa, an ancient aquaeduct from the 16th century, and then runs through the winding cobbled streets, passing by colonial style mansions and huge gardens.
